PROJECT OVERVIEW

Global Medgate presents an innovative solution for enhancing remote medical support and expertise sharing in real-time. By allowing medical professionals to connect with operating rooms globally, it facilitates knowledge transfer, training, and immediate assistance during procedures. There is a need to minimize the time it takes to insert a new medical device, minimize costs and save lives by having the specialist connect remotely with full camera control. As a UI/UX designer, my primary focus was to address the unique medical challenges and create a seamless, intuitive interface that enhances usability and functionality for healthcare professionals.

THE PROBLEM

The introduction of new medical equipment for invasive procedures comes with strict regulatory requirements from the FDA that requires specialist-led training for hospital staff. Flying specialist doctors for these purposes is expensive, time-consuming and limited by the availability of doctors. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted these challenges, prompting FDA approval of remote training methods. Global Medgate responds to this need through an accessible and cost-effective platform that simplifies regulatory compliance and provides specialized remote training and even allows interventions during real-time and remote analysis.

DESIGN CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS

MARKET RESEARCH

I conducted studies of five dashboards of systems from different fields and here are my conclusions

User Expectations

Healthcare professionals expect high reliability, minimal latency, and tools tailored to the unique demands of surgery and training.

Real-time interactivity and seamless device compatibility are critical for adoption.

Competitor Landscape

Existing platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom are widely used but lack the specialized features required for medical training and real-time procedure support.

Dedicated medical platforms often focus on diagnostics rather than the specific needs of surgical training and live procedure assistance.

Industry Insights

The global telemedicine market is projected to reach $396 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 25.8% from 2022 to 2027. This growth is driven by the increasing demand for remote healthcare solutions and advancements in communication technology.

A significant percentage of hospitals and medical institutions report difficulties in accessing expert trainers due to geographic and scheduling constraints, making remote solutions a priority.
